Luke Mitchell

Luke Mitchell is an Australian actor and model. He attended the Film and Television Studio International, and won the role of Chris Knight in Neighbours in 2008. Mitchell appeared as Will in the third season of H2O: Just Add Water in 2009. He starred as Romeo Smith in Home and Away from 2009 to 2013. The role saw Mitchell win the Most Popular New Male Talent Logie Award in 2010.

Mitchell was raised on the Gold Coast and was born on April 17, 1985. Afterwards, his parents were divorced and both remarried. Mitchell has a younger sister named Bree and three brothers named Michael, Daniel, and Benjamin. Ben, his younger brother, was ranked among the top 10 Australian tennis players and peaked at 109 in the global rankings. His older brother coaches tennis. From the age of five to nineteen, Mitchell participated in tennis. His goal was to become a professional, but he gave up when he realized that was all he had in life. Nerang State High School was attended by Mitchell.

Mitchell received his training at the Film and Television Studio International, where he collaborated with industry experts like Dean Carey, Iain Gardner, Kim Krejus, and Joss McWilliam. Working in their live theater acts, he toured Australia with Sudden Impact Entertainment, an international entertainment business.

Career

He was a successful candidate for the Neighbours guest part of Chris Knight while he was employed in Melbourne, and he made an appearance in eleven episodes. After that, he relocated to the Gold Coast to reprise his role as Will in H2O: Just Add Water’s third season. Mitchell shot the gay-themed romance Performance Anxiety in 2008; the film was chosen for a cast and crew screening as part of the 9th Annual Brisbane Queer Film Festival.

After moving to Sydney in June 2009, Mitchell started starring in Home and Away as Romeo Smith. For his depiction of Romeo, Mitchell was awarded the 2010 Logie Award for Most Popular New Male Talent. After four years, it was revealed on November 4, 2012, that Mitchell had decided to leave Home and Away, and his character left the show in 2013. In February 2013, after leaving Home and Away, Mitchell was chosen to play John Young in The CW’s revival of Tomorrow People. It was revealed in July 2014 that Mitchell, who plays Jesse in the US series Members Only, has joined the cast. But before the pilot could air, the show was canceled.

As the affable Inhuman Lincoln Campbell, Mitchell debuted on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in February 2015. He was elevated to the main cast for the third season of the program. Mitchell played the role of Roman in Blindspot after departing from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. At first, he declined the audition because he didn’t think he was a good fit for the part. After coming back to the US, Mitchell received word that he was still in the running for the role and submitted an audition tape. Producers gave their consent when he sought to keep his beard.

The CBS program The Code cast Mitchell in the lead role of Captain John “Abe” Abraham in August 2018. Dave Annable, who portrayed the character in the premiere episode, gave way to him. The show was canceled following its debut season. Alongside Michael B. Jordan, Mitchell portrays Rowdy in the 2021 movie Without Remorse, which is an adaptation of Tom Clancy’s 1993 novel of the same name. In Jeffrey Paul King’s drama The Republic of Sarah on The CW, Mitchell as the title character, Danny. The CW gave the show the go-ahead on May 12, 2020, for the 2020–2021 broadcast season. The Republic of Sarah was canceled in September 2021 after just one season. He was chosen to play Ken, the King of the Gods, in the fourth and last season of the CW series Legacies, which premiered in April 2022.

For the third season of Big Sky, Mitchell also appeared in the show as Cormac, the son of Sunny Barnes (Reba McEntire). He costarred with Heather Hemmens in the Hallmark Channel television movie A Pinch of Portugal in 2023 as Russ. In the upcoming ninth season of Chicago Med, Mitchell will feature as ED physician Mitch Ripley.

Burgess Abernethy, Phoebe Tonkin, and Cariba Heine, who co-star in H2O: Just Add Water, used to live with Mitchell. Mitchell disclosed his hobbies in body boarding, the outdoors, and going to the movies in an interview with TV Week.

Mitchell started dating Rebecca Breeds, his co-star in Home and Away, in 2009. In May 2012, the pair declared their engagement, and in January 2013, they tied the knot.
